There are several steps you can follow to size a generator for a yacht:
Determine your power needs: The first step in sizing a generator is to determine how much power AKA "KW" you need. Make a list of all the electrical devices and appliances you will be using on your yacht, including lights, pumps, appliances, and entertainment systems. Calculate the total wattage of these devices to get an idea of your power needs.

Consider the size of your yacht: The size of your yacht will also influence the size of the generator you need. Larger yachts will typically require more power than smaller yachts.
Consider your power usage patterns: Think about how you will be using your generator. If you will be using it primarily for short periods of time, such as to charge batteries or run small appliances, you may be able to get by with a smaller generator. However, if you will be using it for longer periods of time, such as to power all of your electrical systems, you will need a larger KW generator.
Determine the type of generator you need: There are several types of generators available for yachts, including diesel, gasoline, and propane generators. Consider the pros and cons of each type to determine which one is best for your needs.

Choose a generator with a high power factor: A generator with a high power factor will be more efficient and will be able to deliver more power to your yacht.
By following these steps, you can choose a generator that is appropriately sized for your yacht and your power needs.
